In the Northern Hemisphere, the month of May marks the beginning of spring. Symbolically, spring has always been associated with the concept of a fresh, new start. While we, here in the Philippines, do not have spring, the month of May can be perceived by many of us, especially new graduates and students, as a prelude toward a new chapter in their lives. May stands in-between the graduation season and the beginning of the incoming school year. This month, college graduates should be on their way to become budding, young professionals, while those who are still studying should be preparing to go back to school. Part of the preparation process, they should be equipping themselves with the right tools in order to stay ahead of the competition. Thankfully, many of today’s innovations allow us to become more efficient and enjoy being present at school or in the workplace. Some of these innovations are featured in the May 2017 issue of HWM Philippines which we dedicate to yuppies and students out there. In this issue, we have a trio of Shootout articles, featuring select sub-10K Android smartphones, notebook PCs, and wireless earphones. The Gear and Test sections are extra special as we put in the spotlight some of the latest flagship smartphones available in the market today, namely the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, LG G6, Huawei P10 and P10 Plus, OPPO F3 Plus, and the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom. PC enthusiasts are also welcome to join the party: we have reviews of the AMD Ryzen 7 1700X, ASUS Prime X370-Pro, and the MSI Z270 Krait Gaming. Are you an autophile or a motorcycle enthusiast? No problem. Our Spotlight section has spread features of this year’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) and the 11th edition of the IR Bike Fest and Trade Show (IRBFXI). Many more are in store for you, so sit back, and just enjoy the new issue!
