A day after Samsung Philippines had rolled out its new lineup of IT products, it was Acer Philippines’ turn to unravel its aces up its sleeve. Held at the Manila Marriot Hotel in Pasay City, the executives and representatives of Acer spearheaded the event dubbed ‘Acer Tech Showcase 2012’ where fashion and technology collided in the midst of colorful lights, lively music, and an energetic dance number.


Here are the models that make up Acer's parade of latest computing innovations.
Acer Aspire S5

Acer’s current portfolio of IT products is topbilled by the Aspire S5 Ultrabook. First seen at CES this year, the Aspire S5 is the successor to the Aspire S3, Acer’s first Ultrabook. The new Ultrabook takes onboard a nice feature set, having a 13.3-inch display, SSD for storage, third generation Intel processor, and, most importantly, a Thunderbolt port. The Aspire S5 is the first Ultrabook equipped with such interface. All of these are packed within an ultrathin brushed magnesium alloy chassis that measures 15mm thick and weighs 1.35kg. Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M5

If the Aspire S5 wows because of its admirable thinness, the Aspire Timeline Ultra M5 impresses due to its processing power. Within its slim confines, the 14-inch notebook is powered by an Intel Core i5-3317U processor with 2GB DDR3 memory module. Making use of NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M as its discrete graphics system, the Timeline Ultra M5 supports a native resolution of 1366 x 768. It also has an 8x DVD SuperMulti optical drive, HDMI out, and boasts a lengthy battery life of up to eight hours. Acer Iconia Tab A510 Olympic Edition

An opportune offering now that the London Olympics is fast approaching, the Iconia Tab A510 Olympic Edition is a tablet that runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). In front, the Iconia Tab A510 carries a 10-1-inch 1280 x 800 touchscreen display and a 1-megapixel camera coupled with a 5-megapixel main camera on the rear side. Acer K130

Acer’s response to the needs of traveling presenters and businessmen, the K130 is a portable DLP projector that has a compact dimension of 140 x 116 x 41mm and a light weight of 430g. Capable of throwing an 100-inch size image at a maximum distance of 3.2 meters, the K130 also supports a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080. The projector features a contrast ratio of 10,000:1 and has a brightness level of 300 ANSI lumens. On the connectivity front, it integrates a component video, composite audio/video, HDMI, and a Type A USB port. In addition to these, the K130 also has a built-in card reader.
