Event: PowerColor At Computex 2011 - Seeing Red Again
An Intimate Showcase Of Power
Having its own exhibition room separate from the hustling and bustling Computex 2011 main expo show floors, PowerColor treated its media guests and industry partners to a more intimate exhibition of its new and up-and-coming product offerings. As one of the leading graphics card manufacturers worldwide, particularly for the AMD-based segment, the Taiwanese company showcased a handful of products for high-quality PC graphics enthusiasts to look forward to in the near future.
Instantly drawing our attention on PowerColor's display desk was a behemoth of a graphics card, the dual-GPU PowerColor Radeon HD 6970 X2. Featuring a pair of AMD Radeon HD 6970 GPUs and a massive dual-slot, twin-fan cooler design customized by PowerColor, this monster card looks to be the company's new flagship offering. It comes with clock speeds of 880MHz at the core and 1375MHz for memory.
AMD's mainstream HD 6870 GPU also received a lot of exposure courtesy or PowerColor's custom designs. Whether you're into multi-display usage or simply getting performance boosts by default, PowerColor has got you covered with its Barts XT GPU releases, such as the ones you see above.
Another attention-grabber was PowerColor's redesign of the HD 6850. Now slimmed down to fit into a single PCI-E slot, this card performs at 775MHz (clock) and 1000MHz (memory), with the added advantage of freeing up more space for a more powerful four-way CrossFire X setup.
Of course, PowerColor will not one to be left behind in the global green initiative. Its Go! Green graphics card series, such as the HD 6750 are engineered to bring uncompromised gaming performance with significantly less impact on the environment. Complying with global ecological standards, these graphics cards are equipped with a custom passive cooling system that enables the GPU to perform as it should, without requiring more power to do so.
Aside from the appealing race car-like cooler design and color scheme, PowerColor's factory-overclocked Vortex II graphics card family also features an exclusive cooler design that allows users to adjust and manage the airflow and thus, the heat impacting the graphics card as a whole. In fact, even the fan blades themselves are perforated to promote better airflow upon the graphics card.
On top of the array of graphics cards on display, PowerColor also previewed an up and coming product, its Wireless Media Center. This device is designed to let you share, stream, and enjoy content across the home without any cumbersome audio-video wires or cables. With full HD video and 8-channel audio support and data transfer speeds up to 3Gbps, this looks to be a great solution for HD and 3D home entertainment.
