Event: Taking Center Stage – Pinoy Gaming Festival 2011
Addressing a Diverse Audience
From October 28 to 30, the Pinoy Gaming Festival 2011 (PGF 2011) took the Cyberzone area of SM North EDSA by storm as it became a successful gathering of a diverse audience, not only of gamers, but also of cosplayers, PC enthusiasts, and mall-goers. It became a well-timed affair as it coincided with the “long weekend” that started on October 29 and ended up on November 1, All Saints’ Day.

We got an opportunity to cover the last day of the said event in which organizers staged the finals for the DOTA and the StarCraft II tournament together with cosplay and onsite photo-taking contests. However, different from the earlier announcement, the planking competition did not take place during the event, primarily because of the establishment’s existing policies.
Dubbed as the biggest and most awaited gaming event this year, PGF 2011 gave away over PhP 150,000-worth of prizes for those who participated and won in the activities.
