Prepping Up for IFA 2012
Countdown to IFA 2012
The 52nd IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin), a world-leading trade show for home AV entertainment, consumer electronics, and home appliances, is set to take place from August 31 to September 5 in Berlin, Germany. As we near the date, rumors and leaks of new products are also coming in at a furious pace. On the mobile front, Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Note II. In fact, this should take place at the company’s Mobile Unpacked event on the 29th, two days before IFA opens its doors. But is that the only new product we’ll see from Samsung? Apparently not. There’s a very good chance that we’ll also see a Windows 8-running hybrid tablet.
Not a fan of Samsung? Well, with Sony also present at IFA and holding its own pre-IFA press event, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Xperia family adding new members in a few days’ time. Also, will the LG Optimus G make its appearance at IFA? We shall see.
Of course, IFA isn’t about mobile only. Watch this space if you’re interested in home entertainment and audio entertainment. Epson, JVC, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, and Toshiba all have booths at IFA. Get ready for a deluge of new TV and speaker products and technological breakthroughs. Also, with Windows 8 reaching the public in less than two months’ time, we expect to see a truckload of Windows 8 tablets and Ultrabooks too.

Samsung Galaxy Camera Appears on Samsung PH Website, Previewed at IFA 2012Apart from the Galaxy Note II and the Windows 8-based ATIV devices, another new Samsung product that was spotted at IFA 2012 is the Android-powered Galaxy Camera. Now featured on Samsung Philippines' website, it seems that the new camera will be launching soon. Here is a preview.  Toshiba Unveils Passive 3D TVs at IFA 2012Passive 3D is gaining momentum as more industry players are now placing their bets on this polarized tech. Next of that list is Toshiba, who've unveiled their new flagship WL968 series of LED-backlit televisions at IFA 2012 over in Berlin, understandably packed with similar passive 3D features.  Dell Introduces New Tablet/Notebook Hybrids and a Desktop PCDell proudly introduces its three new Windows RT and Windows 8 devices: the XPS Duo 12 and XPS 10 tablet/notebook hybrids, and the XPS One 27 AIO PC. HTC Presents Desire X to the Crowd at IFA 2012It turns out that the alleged 10-inch tablet was just another rumor. Instead, HTC unveiled yet another Android smartphone, the Desire X which directly competes with Sony's Xperia J. It runs on dual-core 1GHz processor with a 4-inch Super LCD display shooting at 5-megapixels.  Sony Announces Successor to the Alpha NEX-5N, Comes with Wi-Fi & Hybrid AFSony has made an announcement of their new Alpha NEX-5R which is the successor to the Alpha NEX-5N. It sports a new Wi-Fi connectivity and a hybrid AF system that combines the AF methods used both in DSLR and mirrorless cameras. Curious? Read on to find out more about this new camera from Sony. LG Announces Global Debut of Optimus L9LG today announced a new member of its L-series lineup of smartphones, the Optimus L9. It operates on Android 4.0 with a 1GHz dual-core processor and 1GB RAM.
