Apple Pressing OEM to Stop ASUS Zenbook Production

Chinese publication Commercial Times has reported that Pegatron Technology will stop manufacturing more units of the ASUS Zenbook. Pegatron made the decision after a major client, Apple, expressed its displeasure with the OEM’s ongoing production of the Zenbook.
Pegatron, a Taiwan-based OEM, was a subsidiary of its parent company ASUS from 2007 until 2010. In 2011, Pegatron started producing iPhones, and this year, the company is aiming to get orders from Apple for its next-generation iPad.
Pegatron’s production of the Zenbook is expected to halt by the end of March. In response to this development, ASUS will be searching for other potential OEMs, namely Compal and Wistron.
