Mickey Kim, Head of Chromecast and TV Partnerships in Asia Pacific at Google, explains how the new Chromecast works.

The new Chromecast is here! Just in time for Christmas, Google Philippines has officially announced the availability of the much-awaited thumb-sized media streaming device in the Philippines.

Chromecast is a 2.83-inch device that plugs into the HDMI port of any high-definition TV, so you can instantly stream your favorite movies, shows, and music. Simply connect the Chromecast to the HDMI port on your HDTV, connect it to the same Wi-Fi network where your smartphone, tablet, or computer is connected, and then cast the content you want to see on your TV using the cast button that appears on your favorite applications.

With no additional setup required, the Google Chromecast lets you cast your favorite media content right to the big screen, using your smartphone as the remote control.

YouTube, Spotify, HOOQ, NBA, and Just Dance Now are some of the apps compatible with Chromecast. You can visit www.chromecast.com/apps to know other compatible applications.

Aside from apps, Chromecast also lets you mirror any website in Chrome.

Aside from apps, Chromecast also lets you mirror any website in Chrome or any media content from your laptop, Android phone, or tablet to your TV. There’s also a guest mode feature that lets your family and friends cast content using their own smart devices without having to connect to your Wi-Fi.

When not casting, you can turn your TV screen into a beautiful backdrop via www.chromecast.com/backdrop.

The new Google Chromecast is now officially available at Globe stores for only PhP 1,995.
