Google Drive: Now with Offline Editing and iOS Support Updates

In April this year, Google announced their cloud storage solution which integrated Google Docs as well. In two short months at Google I/O 2012, Google has managed to address one of the most distressing problems that had been plaguing Google Docs -- offline editing. This new feature lets you edit the documents found in your Google drive, without the need for any Internet connection. The changes are stored locally in a cache, and would automatically be updated and reflected in its cloud based counterpart upon connection with the Internet. This nifty new feature would benefit those using Chrome OS, or those who work primarily with Google Docs. Offline support for Presentations and Spreadsheets will come later.

Another exciting announcement made, was that the Google Drive native app is now available on iOS devices. Google also showed the attendees at the event a few other enhancements for Google Drive one of which is the ability to search within pictures. The demonstration was done by simply typing "Pyramid" into the search box, and an image of a pyramid appears -- even though the file name was IMG_9824.jpg. For users who are anxious to try out the new features, Google Drive has already been updated. 

Both Google Drive and Chrome iOS apps will be available for download later today.
