Kazuo Hirai to Replace Howard Stringer as Sony's President and CEO

Sony announced today the promotion of Kazuo Hirai as its new President and CEO. Hirai will replace Howard Stringer starting on April 2012. Stringer will become Chairman of the Board of Directors in June of this year. Hirai currently serves as the company's Executive Deputy President.
Hirai, 51, joined Sony Computer Entertainment America in 1995. Since the introduction of the PlayStation line, Hirai has been pivotal in promoting and making the brand successful in the United States.
