Micron CEO Dies in a Plane Crash

Micron Technology's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Steve Appleton passed away due to a small plane accident last Friday (MST). Appleton, a professional stunt pilot, was flying a single-engine Lancair plane in Boise, Idaho when the accident happened. He was the only person onboard.
Appleton, 51, started working at Micron in 1983 and became the company's CEO in 1994. Micron is specialized in manufacturing semiconductor products like memory modules and solid state drives. The company is also associated with the brand Crucial. Main competitors of Micron include Elpida, Hynix, Samsung, SanDisk, and Toshiba.
Appleton is survived by his wife and four children. His position in Micron is temporarily taken over by Mark Durcan, the company's President and Chief Operating Officer (COO).
