RIM Seeks Senior iOS Developer

A recent job posting by Research in Motion has led tech pundits to believe that the company may be looking to enter the iOS app market. The posting mentioned that RIM is seeking a Senior iOS Mobile Developer, or to be more exact, "an experienced iOS/Objective-C developer capable of architecting, designing, developing and testing complex applications for iPhone and iPad devices.” with at least "7 to 10 years of programing experience" and "two years of professional experience in writing iOS apps". This initially sparked off speculations that RIM plans to develop a BBM app for the iOS platform, leveraging on the latter's widespread user adoption.

Sadly, a RIM spokesperson has quashed rumors about possible BBM porting to iOS with an official comment given to AllThingsD: “In order for BlackBerry Mobile Fusion to perform advanced management functions for iOS devices, RIM will develop an on device client to be included as part of the overall solution.” Will this still spell hope for BBM to be available on iOS or even Android platforms - a rumor that BGR reported in May? We certainly can't tell but with many free private messaging clients popping up and getting stronger support from users (e.g. iMessage, WhatsApp), RIM has to step up its competition.
