Rocking to the Beat - AKG Showcases High-End Headphones
We were invited yesterday to AKG's event over at JBL Acoustical Space in Megamall for an exclusive product launch of their newly released headphones here in the Philippines. They also showcased their top-of-the-line earphones as well as their headphones named after the American record producer, Quincy Jones.

The event was held at the 4th floor, Building B of Megamall where they just moved in since December last year. It was no ordinary store since they have a designated sound room wherein you could test out their home theater TV and speaker set-up.

One of the highlights of the event was the K550 espousing large 50mm drivers with closd back design. These headphones boast to deliver "music as it was meant to be heard". Don't be fooled by its humongous speakers as it is very lightweight when we tried it for ourselves. Wearing it felt like having two pieces of soft doughnuts pressed against our head.

AKG's Quincy Jones Q701 produces three-dimensional surround sound when listening to your favorite music. While creating crisp high-frequencies, it generates distortion-free bass response as well. We were surprised as its frequency range covers 10Hz - 39,800Hz which is by far the widest we've seen. These bad boys can be yours for PhP 25,990 a pop.

The main attraction of the night was the K3003. It was reviewed as the world's greatest in-ear headphones by Robb Report, a luxury-lifestyle magazine. For these earphones, it's all about the perfectly-balanced 3-way technology which simply means that the sound you'll hear coming out has ultra deep lows, accurate mids, and crystal clear highs. The frequency response ranges from 10Hz - 30,000 kHz which is close to the Quincy Jones headphones.

Whether you are a basshead or a treble freak, K3003 will surely provide what you're looking for as it has interchangeable filters depending on your mood. One has to simply remove the buds, twist off the attached filter, and put on a different one - all done in a minute. These powerful in-ear headphones comes with a tag of PhP 60,000. But like the words of the ever-wise Aunt May, "With great power, comes great...price tag" or something like that.
