Samsung Unveils New Monitor, Wireless Printers, and Ultrabooks

Samsung, in an effort to raise the value and functionality of its devices, hosted an event at The Manila Peninsula in order to emphasize the importance of devices working in unison. Titled 'Convergence', the gathering revealed some of Samsung’s latest products: the Smart Station Monitor, the Wireless Printer, and the newest Samsung Series 9 and Series 5 Ultrabooks.

The Samsung Smart Station Monitor is not just a display, but also a hub for connecting multiple devices to your notebook. Using only a single USB port, you’ll be able to connect your mobile PC to your 24-inch full HD monitor, keyboard, mouse, external hard disk, or printer. With its Mobile Hi-Definition Link (MHL) utilized, you’ll be able to show whatever is happening on your smartphone onto the monitor. Using Mobile Control, you can also control your smartphone through a keyboard and a mouse. These bring all your entertainment mediums into one easily accessible hub. The SRP for the Samsung Smart Station Monitor is PhP 16,990.

Samsung Wireless Printer, on the other hand, lets you wirelessly print directly from your mobile phone. Wireless Direct Technology is what allows you to print without the need of a router, and the Samsung Mobile Print App enables wireless scanning as well. Three different wireless printers are available: the ML-2165W is a robust 20ppm single function monochrome laser printer (SRP: PhP 4,990), the SCX-3405W is a monochrome laser printer with scanning and copying capabilities (SRP: PhP 6,990), and the SCX-3405FW is like the former but with the additional capability to send fax (SRP: PhP 8,990).

The Samsung Series 5 line is getting a refresh with the latest third generation Ivy Bridge processors from Intel. You can expect a lot more performance now in the same compact casing thanks to an improved SSD storage of 24GB and even faster boot times. The Series 5 Ultra is available in three variants: with Intel Core i3 at PhP 38,900, with Intel Core i5 at PhP 42,900, and with Intel Core i7 at PhP 54,900. In addition, Samsung has also released the Series 5 Slim, an Ultrabook with a much lower price tag. It uses AMD’s Low Voltage A6 CPU and features 7660G discrete-class graphics. It has an SRP of PhP 29,900 and is available in pop pink and mocha brown.

For an even better Ultrabook experience, Samsung has come out with the world’s slimmest 15-inch notebook in its new Series 9. At 14.9mm thick and 1.58kg weight, it’s equipped with the latest Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB memory, and 256GB SSD, delivering boot times of only 9.1 seconds. Its 400nit HD+ Superbright Plus Screen guarantees a pleasurable viewing experience whether you’re watching movies or simply browsing through websites. The SRP is at PhP 76,500.
