Seagate Partners With DensBits For Affordable, High-Performance SSDs
Seagate has announced a partnership with DensBits Technologies, an Israeli company whose memory controller (Memory Modem) technology will be used in its low-cost, high-performance upcoming SSDs. Seagate also made an undisclosed investment in DensBits as a development of their new strategic relationship.
With this partnership, Seagate will be featuring the Memory Modem controller in its range of products that comprise "consumer grade" SSDs with 3 bits per cell (TLC) and 2 bits per cell (MLC) ones for enterprise applications. This new range of SSDs will join its existing Pulsar range. This move by Seagate can be seen as offering SSDs that are price-competitive in a market that has no shortage of competing brand names.
