Smart Convenes with Huawei on Network Modernization

Smart Communications revealed that it recently convened with Huawei regarding the telco’s mobile phone network modernization initiative. Through the leadership of its Chairman, Manuel Pangilinan, Smart met with Huawei’s Vice Chair and CEO Eric Xu regarding the program which is expected to be finished in the middle of this year. Apart from Huawei, Smart has also teamed up with Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Network. Huawei’s target is to complete the renovation in the Bicol region, Visayas, and Mindanao. Through the modernization program, Smart aims to strengthen its voice and SMS services, expand its 3G network, and rapidly deploy 4G LTE in the country.
