WD Ships Energy-Efficient Hard Drive for Ultrabook Devices
Western Digital announces that the WD Scorpio Blue 7mm hard drive is available.

The latest addition to its mobile hard drive family, the Scorpio Blue is also the 2.5-inch drive with the lowest power consumption on the market. Compatibility with industry-standard 9.5mm slots make them the ideal storage for notebooks, including Ultrabook devices which require a 7mm drive height.
Incorporating WD's ShockGuard technology, the Scorpio Blue has an improved 400Gs shock specification, enhancing protection for the drive mechanices and platter surfaces. Also, the WhisperDrive technology provides for a silent operation, while the SecurePark ensures the recording head never touches the disk surface, resulting in less head wear and reliability for a longer period of time.
The new single-platter WD Scorpio Blue small form factor hard drives are available in capacities of 320GB and 500GB. They are covered by a two-year limited warranty, and are priced at US$79.99 and US$99.99 respectively.
