ZTE Mimosa X Smartphone Powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2

While we are expecting a few NVIDIA Tegra 3 smartphones at Mobile World Congress 2012, this isn't the end for its previous generation dual-core Tegra 2 processors.
Chinese company ZTE has just announced that their latest Mimosa X Android smartphone will be powered by the Tegra 2 processor, on top of an Icera 450 HSPA+ modem. The latter is significant for the fact that this will be the first time NVIDIA is using its own modem, rather than rely on external sources such as Qualcomm for its modem setup.
While the Icera modem will provide the Mimosa X with a HSPA+ download speed of 21Mbps, we have to factor in the fact that long term evolution (LTE) will be superseding HSPA connectivity. This could put the Mimosa X at a disadvantage against its upcoming LTE-capable competitors.
Besides the NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, the Mimosa X will sport a 5-megapixel camera with 4GB of internal storage and an external storage expandability of up to 32GB. Like most mainstream smartphones, a 4.3-inch display with a qHD resolution of 960 x 540 pixels is found on the Mimosa X. Fortunately, the ZTE Mimosa X will be preloaded with Google's latest Android 4.0 right off the bat, unlike other manufacturers committing to an Ice Cream Sandwich update for their new devices preloaded with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
The ZTE Mimosa X is slated for a Q2 2012 availability.
