		 		<h3 class="page_title">A Display Of Technologies</h3>
<p>In the middle of the previous year, the Japanese consumer   electronics giant Sharp had launched its lineup of AQUOS LED TVs   that carry the Quattron sub-label. Going beyond conventions,   Quattron LED TVs make use of yellow as the fourth color   subpixel, in addition to the standard RGB (red-green-blue)   pattern. By adding yellow, Sharp aims to enhance color   reproduction on its LED TVs, making them capable of displaying   even difficult hues accurately. Apart from espousing an   additional color subpixel, Quattron LED TVs are also slapped   with Sharp&rsquo;s X-Gen panels. These display panels promise   brighter luminance, thanks to the larger aperture that   enables the passage of more light, and reduced backlight   leakage, thanks to their use of UV2A photo-alignment   technology.</p>

<p>Eventually, Sharp expanded the Quattron LED TV lineup with 3D   models. Aside from Quattron, Sharp has introduced additional   technologies that make these 3D LED TVs distinct from its   rivals. One of these is FRED (Frame Rate Enhanced Driving),   Sharp&rsquo;s high-speed LCD drive technology that highlights   improved light transmission and reduced power consumption, due   to the reduction of wiring and components. Additionally, the 3D   LED TVs also come with a side-mounted LED unit with rapid   strobing backlights, which works hand in hand with frame   interpolation methods, to achieve 200/240Hz frame rate. These   extras were intended to reduce crosstalk and improve the overall   3D experience. For sampling, the folks at Sharp Philippines sent us the AQUOS   Quattron LC-46LE830M 3D LED TV.</p>

<h4 class="page_sub_title">Majestic Mammoth</h4>
<p>The LC-46LE830M digresses from the typical modest design of   Japanese 3D LED TVs but is not as flirtatious as those made by the   Koreans. Spicing up its looks, the panel is bordered with a   matte silver frame. Sporting a 39mm thin display with rounded   corners, it partially reminds of Philips HDTVs. To further the   LC-46LE830M&rsquo;s luxurious disposition, Sharp has also thrown   in touch-sensitive controls, a chrome-hued spine, and stylish   glass stand to the schema. Unfortunately, the 3D LED TV makes   use of a glossy display that is logically prone to ambient   glare. Users are advised to either dim their lights down or turn   them off completely when watching on the LC-46LE830M.</p>

<p>Similar to some of the 3D LED TVs that we saw from other   brands, the connectors of the LC-46LE830M are all placed in a   discreet manner. The antenna, component, and RS-232C connectors   are positioned below the rear panel, whereas the more   contemporary HDMI and USB inputs are situated on the side,   together with the Ethernet, 3.5mm audio jacks, VGA, and optical   audio out.</p>

<h4 class="page_sub_title">User Interface And User-  friendliness</h4>
<p>Moving on to the software side, Sharp also overhauled their   user interface (UI) for the LC-46LE830M. The UI presents a set   of eight picture presets, designed to automatically tweak the TV   depending on the content being played. For users who prefer   their TV settings more personalized, the LC-46LE830M&rsquo;s UI   offers adequate means to fine-tune more specific settings like   hue, saturation, and color temperature.</p>

The support for DLNA and the presence of an Ethernet port only mean that users are enabled to integrate the TV to their home network environment. " /></p>
<p>Playing content through the built-in USB, the LC-46LE830M is   responsive enough in discerning video files from non-video file   formats. Auspiciously, the TV provides support for a broad array   of formats, such as AVI, MKV, MOV DivX, and VC-1. Nevertheless,   files in AVCHD and WMA formats are unsupported. Connectivity   through DLNA is also possible but limited to systems running on   Windows 7 OS. Given the presence of a built-in Ethernet port,   wired connectivity is also a possibility but this function only   allows users to hook up the TV to the local network.</p>
<h4 class="page_sub_title">The 3D Factor</h4>
<p>While Sharp is among those vendors who arrived late in the 3D   scene, being a latecomer had given them more time to hone their   entrant&rsquo;s features. Like the flagship LC-60LE925M, the   LC-46LE830M is not only capable of converting 2D to 3D signals   &ndash; it can also convert native 3D content to 2D in real time   &ndash; by just pushing the 3D button on the remote control. The   same outcome can also be achieved via the bundled active shutter   3D eyeglasses.</p>

<p>Assessing its overall appearance, Sharp&rsquo;s LC-46LE830M   is a worthy entrant in the 3D LED TV race with its majestic and   luxurious poise, though we have a minor gripe about its fairly   reflective display panel. Equipped with a comprehensive plethora   of both analog and digital interfaces, users are offered with   flexible options to connect their multimedia devices to the TV,   whether wired or wirelessly. Taking into account the user   experience, the LC-46LE830M features a user-friendly and   responsive UI and advanced 3D functionality.</p>			</div>
