Internet In Your Pocket

Being constantly connected is becoming less and less of a luxury and more of a necessity in our modern way of life. 3G technology allows our smartphones and tablets almost unlimited access to the Internet just about anywhere. This same technology also powers portable Internet routers such as the D-Link myPocket DWR-530.

The DWR-530 is a small plastic box approximately two by three and a half inches in size and about as thick as most mobile phones at around 15mm. It’s a 3.75G device whose functions are divided between router and modem mode. It has a standard SIM slot for mobile Internet access which can be utilized either wireless by setting it to router mode or modem mode. In router mode, up to six devices can connect to it via Wi-Fi. On the other hand, its modem requires a USB connection and is generally reserved for desktops and notebooks, which is also a means to recharge its removable 1500mAh lithium-ion battery pack.
