Forging Further Into Gaming

Taiwan-based Genius has long been a mainstay in the PC peripherals market, offering everything from mice to pen tablets and speakers. Through the years they have created a reputation for making good quality but affordable general purpose products. In that time, they have also come up with PC accessories designed specifically for gaming purposes, such as game controllers and gaming headsets. At this year's Computex trade show in Taipei, they strengthened their gaming portfolio by launching a whole new set of products under the "GX" brand. Headlining their lineup of speaker systems is the Genius SW-G2.1 3000.

Admittedly the name is quite a mouthful, but it is pretty apt as the system takes up quite a bit of space. The biggest piece of the 2.1 system is the subwoofer, which measures 215.9 x 228.6 x 304.8mm. If you're going to have it on your desk, you're going to have to clear a lot of space for it, otherwise it's better off below it.

The two channels are pretty much standard in size and have their the gold-colored speaker drivers exposed - a potential hazard if you have any curious little kids around. Connecting all the pieces together is a standing control module which has ports for all three channels and a handful of input ports including the standard 3.5mm, RCA and a separate 3.5mm port for microphone input.
