Physique and User Interface
A 'Droid With Virtue
While China-branded handsets are typically looked upon as inferior around these parts, Huawei differentiates itself with sturdily-made devices such as the Honor U8860. When we first encountered the Honor, we instantly noticed its solid constitution. Its fascia carries a 4-inch touchscreen display, VGA camera, and capacitive buttons below the screen. The sides host typical features of a smartphone: power button and 3.5mm audio jack on top, volume rocker on the left side, and a micro-USB at the bottom. The device comes with a textured back cover for better grip.

Although the Honor makes use of a customized Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) interface, it is responsive and does not feel heavy. It fluidly handled a variety of tasks, from simple navigation and Internet browsing to playing of 720p videos and games like Dead Space. The Honor needs an app such as MX Player to be able to play 720p videos. Storage-wise, besides its 1GB internal, Huawei provides additional 5GB through the Internet-based Cloud+ Drive which requires registration. On the connectivity front, the Honor wirelessly connects via 3GB, Wi-Fi b/g/n, and Bluetooth 2.1.
Below is a hands-on video of the Honor showcasing its software interface:
