The Ace With Pluses
Last month, HardwareZone.com.ph provided you with a preview of some of the current and upcoming handsets from Samsung. One of the models that we included on the list was the Galaxy Ace Plus S7500, an Android smartphone that falls under Samsung’s midrange arsenal. According to its specs and price, the S7500 can be placed somewhere between the Galaxy Y S5360 and the Galaxy W I8150.

Based on its name alone, one can easily tell that the Galaxy Ace Plus S7500 is the direct descendant of the Galaxy Ace S5830 which is over twelve months old at this moment. As a newer smartphone model, the S7500 is packed with a larger display than the latter (3.65” against 3.5”), although it does not employ a Gorilla Glass panel. Given the larger display, the S7500 touts a heftier profile, measuring 114.5 x 62.5 x 11.2mm and weighing 115g.

In its entirety, the Galaxy Ace Plus S7500 has a rounded body with its sides a bit tapered and bordered with a metallic frame. With a fascia that is very similar to that of the Galaxy Ace S5830, the S7500 is equipped with a physical Home button flanked by two capacitive sensors for Menu and Back functions right below the screen. Its left side carries the volume rocker, whereas its right side hosts the power button. Permanent occupants of the top side include the audio jack and the notch which you should pry to remove the handset’s plastic rear cover. The Micro-USB connector is located below the phone.

The Galaxy Ace Plus S7500’s curviness becomes prominent when you look at its rear portion. The back cover sports a glossy black paintjob, so do expect it to be prone to fingerprints and smudges. Apart from the remarks mentioned, the highlight feature on this side is the 5-megapixel camera with a single LED flash.
Taking out the back cover brings to light the phone’s battery module which you should remove to fully access the SIM card slot. Meanwhile, the microSD slot is readily accessible on the side.

On the inside, the Galaxy Ace Plus S7500’s CPU (Qualcomm Snapdragon S1) is 200MHz faster than the Galaxy Ace S5380’s 800MHz chip (Qualcomm MSM7227). Nevertheless, the two phones make use of Adreno 200 as their graphics processor. Other specs that make the S7500 superior over the S5830 are its higher RAM count (512MB) and larger built-in storage (3GB) which can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card.
