Pocket-sized Wireless Server
One problem that tablet owners have is the limited storage capacity of their devices, be it an iPad or one of the many Android-based tablets in the market. And even though manufacturers have started to provide USB host functionality for use with USB devices such as portable hard drives and flash drives, there are still some major drawbacks – portable hard drives need to be tethered via USB cable and flash drives also have limited storage capacity. The best solution then would be to go wireless, which is exactly what Seagate did with the Seagate GoFlex Satellite.

The Seagate GoFlex Satellite is a 500GB portable hard drive that has wireless streaming as its most marketable feature. Its body is a sturdy plastic shell with a glossy black finish and framed with a shade of silver and curved edges. Its underside on the other hand is textured and has rubber pads on four points to help keep it from slipping off surfaces.

The package includes a number of accessories, namely the Seagate USB 3.0 adapter with cable, a USB wall adapter and power cable with several socket tips and a car charging attachment. Seagate software for Mac and PC are also pre-loaded on the drive along with some sample videos and photos. To access the drive wirelessly however, the GoFlex Media app needs to be downloaded from the Apple App Store if you have an iOS device or from the Android Market if you own an Android-based device.
