Introduction and Physique

Need > Want

With the sudden boom of smartphones these days, there is a whole horizon of choices to choose from as to what you should or want to buy. There are those that you need, and those that you want. Yes, we're sure that many of us want the 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED screen of the Samsung Galaxy Note or even the head-nodding sound of Beats Audio on the HTC Sensation XE, but sometimes our limited budget holds us back from acquiring these things.

It has that generic look of a smartphone, but with a few hints of the color red to add a bit of an exciting feel to it.

Fortunately, there are companies like Torque which also makes mobile phones for those who are mindful of the depth of their pockets – while still giving them the luxury of useful platforms like Android. Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you the Torque Droidz Mate.

The back is covered with textured plastic that prevents it from slipping out of the hands easily. From this angle, the 2-megapixel camera with flash is seen. Beside it resides the speaker which gives out decent audio.

The Torque Droidz Mate is a dual-SIM/dual standby smartphone that features a 3.2-inch WQVGA capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 240 x 400. The handset runs on the older Android 2.2.2 (Froyo). Inside, it is the home to a Spreadtrum SC6810 processor (550MHz), 256MB RAM, and 512MB ROM with the luxury of expanding its storage up to 32GB. It has the usual set of connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPRS.

Situated at the top of the handset are the micro-USB port, audio jack for headphones, and the power/lock screen button.

With the Torque Droidz Mate, users will have to remove the battery module to access the handset's SIM card slots and the microSD slot.
