Acer Academy Summit 2017 preps up new breed of students and teachers
Acer Academy, Acer’s exclusive client program that advocates education, has reached its fifth year of existence and it staged its last leg for 2017 titled Acer Academy Summit 2017 with the theme of Keeping Students Safe in a Digital World.
Educators from over 110 partner schools, with some of them flew from across the country, were gathered at the Manila Hotel on Tuesday afternoon, December 12, 2017, for an afternoon and evening full of learning.
The event was also slated to prepare the educators in the digital classroom for a new breed of learners, especially about online education and digital citizenship.
"Technology and the Internet empower education," said Manuel Wong, Managing Director of Acer Philippines. "But powerful tools can do both good and harm, and it’s our responsibility to stay vigilant to protect the students’ welfare online.”
Acer has invited speakers from the information technology (IT) industry and education sectors to share key insights on data privacy and education modernization, especially with the latest Young Adult Fertility and Sexuality Study showing that the biggest consumers of IT are aged 15-24 years old. That said, the known tech brand saw the opportunity to impart to its partner schools (both private and public) the learnings and practices they can adapt to continually provide their students with a 21st century education.
"Acer leads the efforts to equip our teachers with better ways in providing quality education to our youth--both through knowledge and devices, " said Wong.
Launched in 2012, Acer Academy has been an innovative program to help educators adapt better solution in communicating and interacting with their students who are mostly digital natives.
