Apple reportedly working with LG on a 3D camera for the next iPhone
Reports suggest that Apple is currently working with LG Innotek on bringing 3D camera modules to its next generation iPhone.
The Korean Economic Daily reported that both companies are developing a smartphone camera module with 3D photographing. Sources close to the project claim that Apple is looking at ways to integrate its 3D technology into LG Innotek's 3D camera module and related technology.
In the past few years, Apple has been acquiring companies for their 3D technologies. In 2013, the company bought PrimeSense for US$ 360 million. A year later, it acquired Israeli camera technology firm LinX for US$ 20 million.
Meanwhile, LG Innotek is currently the exclusive supplier of the dual-camera module for the iPhone 7 Plus.
