BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Now Available for Download

Days after the report about PlayBook OS 2.0's possible release date and its local preview, RIM officially announced the availability of PlayBook OS 2.0. Now available for download, PlayBook OS 2.0 has the following features:

  • A built-in mail client with a unified inbox that consolidates messages from email accounts, and sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Integrated calendar and contacts applications that synchronize with updated information from Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • An updated version of BlackBerry Bridge, an app that establishes your PlayBook’s wireless connectivity with your BlackBerry smartphone via Bluetooth. With your PlayBook connected to your BlackBerry smartphone, you will have a larger view of the files (documents, emails, photos et.al.) that are stored on the smartphone so you can work with them efficiently.
  • Updated document editing functions, the new Print To Go app, better virtual keyboard, and BlackBerry Balance. You can download more apps from the BlackBerry App World and content from the BlackBerry Video Store.

Coinciding with the announcement, RIM is also rolling out an initial release of BlackBerry Fusion for enterise PlayBook tablet and BlackBerry smartphone users.
