Coolpix S800: Android OS on Nikon Camera
Before the end of the August 2012, it is expected that Nikon will make a huge announcement as it ventures in using Android OS to power its digital camera. The said camera is assumed to be called Coolpix S800 or S800c. Sources claim such based from the certificate filing found at an Indonesian Communication Agency.

The said Coolpix S800 is assumed to have the specs such as having a 25-250 mm lens, 3.5-inch OLED display, Google Play Apps capability, built-in GPS, and built-in Wi-Fi. The Coolpix S800 is expected to run on Android 2.3.

This move is something big not only for Nikon but for the entire camera industry. This will surely open up the opportunity of using Android OS in DSLRs in the future.
Using Android for an imaging device is not a totally new concept. At CES, Polaroid showcased the SC1630 Android HD camera. Samsung and Panasonic were reportedly mulling over producing their own iterations.
