Smartphones today have evolved into multi-functional devices that provide not only communication but also information, entertainment, and many more. Nokia aims to add more services for their users so they they turned their smartphones into a personal navigation device and introduced Nokia Maps. Nokia Maps is preloaded on Nokia smartphones which can be used easily in getting directions.

In celebration of the said smartphone application, Nokia hosted the very first Maps Challenge yesterday at Cafe Mary Grace in Greenbelt 2. The race involved participants going to specific hotspots around Ayala Center and checking in using Nokia Maps in order to get the clue for the next location. The first 3 participants who finished the course won prizes from Nokia.

Working not only for street maps, Nokia Maps also features offline search and offline rerouting with on-device navigation voices that is available for over 110 countries and 70 languages. Data from Nokia Maps is saved on the smartphone giving users the freedom to check their current location even when they're not connected to the Internet.

Nokia Maps comes preloaded in the Nokia Lumia, Nokia N9, and Nokia Belle smartphones, such as the Asha 311, which is available at the end of July 2012.
