Globe partners with DICT for EDSA Wi-Fi project
Commuters can now access free Wi-Fi with speeds of up to 100Mbps on Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) through Globe Telecom’s GoWiFi public service in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
The EDSA Wi-Fi project aims to implement free Wi-Fi access throughout EDSA’s 24-kilometer stretch.
With a mutual target of giving more Filipinos access to fast and reliable Internet connection wherever in the Philippines, Globe Telecom has expanded the GoWiFi public service to 1,000 more new locations and 10,000 access points in the country, while DICT eyes to reach over 13,000 public places in 145 cities and 1,489 municipalities across the country.
The free public Wi-Fi in EDSA is an addition to other existing GoWiFi services on Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3), Light Rail Transit (LRT), key airports in the country including those in Metro Manila. Cebu, Davao, and top tourist destinations, as well as hospitals and major malls.
Users can access free web surfing by simply connecting to the @GoWiFi network. Upon full consumption of free minutes, users have the option to continue surfing by using Globe’s GoWiFi promo which offers 500MB of data allocation for one day for PhP 15, 1.5GB data valid for three days for PhP 50, and 1.5GB of data allocation for 30 days priced at PhP 99. Globe also has a Free Trial promo valid until August 31, 2017, which gives first time GoWiFi users access to GoWiFi Auto for three days.
