LG to Release Optimus L5 in Asia Soon, Announces Quick Voice

Based on its designation, it appears that the Optimus L5 is the model in between the high-end L7 and the entry-level L3 of LG’s L series smartphones. On the outside, the L5 shares similarities with its siblings, sporting a rectangular design that measures 118 x 67 x 9.5mm. A 4-inch touchscreen display occupies the front, whereas a 5-megapixel camera sits on the back of the handset.

Comparing it with the Huawei Ascend Y200, the L5 carries the same 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7225A processor. Although the L5 comes with a lower capacity battery rated at 1500mAh, it already runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Its OS operates on the phone’s 4GB internal storage that can be expanded via a 32GB microSD card. LG will release the L5 in Asia soon as a dual-SIM handset with a price higher than the PhP 5,990-worth L3. In the Philippines, the L5 is anticipated to arrive by the first week of July.

Still related to LG’s smartphones, the Korean company also recently announced Quick Voice. A voice-activated personal assistant application for LG smartphones, Quick Voice is positioned as a direct rival to Apple iPhone 4S’ Siri and Samsung Galaxy S III’s S Voice.

Some features of Quick Voice include the capability to tell the weather, remind calendar appointments, dictate and send messages, and launch applications. Some of the apps that are connected to Quick Voice are address book, alarm clock, email, maps, stocks, telephone, weather, and online search. LG will roll out Quick Voice sometime in July via a software update.
