LG Unveils Breakthroughs in Television Technologies

LG Electronics unveiled two breakthroughs in television technologies at the CES 2012 - the world’s largest 3D Ultra Definition TV and the world’s largest 3D OLED TV.

84-inch 3D Ultra Definition TV

Here's another view of the 84-inch behemoth with 3D active on the show floor.

Equipped with superb picture quality with 8 million pixels, four times the resolution of existing Full HD TV panels, the 3D UD TV provides the most convincing 3D viewing experience currently available other than a movie theatre. The 3D Depth Control allows users to customize their viewing experience by controlling the 3D effect while 3D Sound Zooming provides users with 3D sound that competes with the output of other home theater systems.

55-inch 3D OLED TV

The 55-inch OLED TV on its long floor standing base.

Here's the same TV with 3D activated and using a desktop pedestal instead. Colors are vivid and brilliant.

Both variations compared in this shot.

Check out the slimness of the OLED TV! From this distance, they seem to be thin enough to slice bread.

The LG OLED TV produces the most unrefined, native colors of any TV set, made possible by combining LG's 4-Color Pixels and Color Refiner features with LG Display's advanced OLED panels. The 4-Color Pixels feature allows for more accurate color depiction by using a set of four colors (red, green blue and white) in comparison to the RGB setup used by other OLED TV manufacturers. Color Refiner ensures consistency in colors from a wider viewing angle via an LG algorithm which improves and refines hues and tones. This is in contrast to other OLED TVs which often exhibit drastic changes in hues from different viewing angles and abnormal color gamut.

Both TVs are set to launch in Singapore in Q4 of 2012.
