Nokia Philippines Looks Back on 2011, Looks Forward to 2012

Nokia Philippines today staged an exclusive affair for the members of the local media as a positive way of welcoming 2012. During the event, Nokia pointed out some of its important achievements during 2011. The first was the introduction of its dual-SIM handsets, along with the endorsement of local celebrity Vic Sotto. Nokia also mentioned about the launch of its new smartphones that are based on recent Symbian iterations, Anna and Belle.
For 2012, under the leadership of its new General Manager and Head of Sales, Mr. Dharmesh Goshalia, Nokia Philippines will continue introducing aspirational products such as the Windows Phone-based Lumia 800. The smartphone will be launched in the months to come.
Driven by its aim of connecting the next billion, Nokia is also set to further expand its lineup of affordable mobile phones like the 200 and the 303 under the Asha series.
On the applications front, three local developers have already achieved receiving one million downloads of the apps that they produced. Nokia Store, previously called Ovi, is now enjoying 11 million downloads daily. Apart from free apps, Nokia Store is also now selling premium apps for as low as PhP 20. Nokia has collaborated with Globe Telecom to make the process of app purchasing more convenient and automated. Without the need to provide their credit card information, Globe subscribers can use their load to buy applications. Smart subscribers will soon enjoy this privilege.
More information on Mr. Goshalia is available on the succeeding press release.
