Oracle Big Data Appliance Announced, Specs Revealed
Oracle's Big Data Appliance is designed to help customers in maximizing the value of Big Data within their enterprise infrastructure. With Big Data Appliance Exadata Database Machine and the new Exalytics Business Intelligence Machine, the Oracle's Big Data Appliance serves as an "engineered system" that includes an open-source distribution of various software frameworks. These include Apache Hadoop, Oracle NoSQL Database, Oracle Data Integrator Application Adapter for Hadoop, Oracle Loader for Hadoop, and MapReduce.

Oracle Big Data Appliance is composed of 18 Oracle Sun servers with a total of 864GB main memory, 216 CPU cores, 648TB of raw disk storage, 40Gbps InfiniBand connectivity between nodes and other Oracle engineered systems, and 10Gbps Ethernet data center connectivity.
