Redmi 5A lands in PH for less than 5K, Redmi 5 Plus at sub-10K
Hot on the heels of the official opening of its first-ever Mi Authorized Store in the Philippines, Xiaomi is bringing the Redmi 5A and the Redmi 5 Plus to the country.
Named by Xiaomi as the entry-level smartphone king, the Redmi 5A comes with a 5-inch HD touchscreen, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz with Adreno 308 GPU, 2GB RAM, and 16GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD).
On the imaging front, the Redmi 5A packs a 13-megapixel rear PDAF camera with F2.2 aperture and a 1.12um pixel sensor, whereas a 5-megapixel front camera with F2.0 aperture and 1.12um pixel sensor sits above the handset's display. Clad in a Dark Grey, Gold, or Rose Gold body, the dual-SIM handset houses a 3000mAh battery which can stand up to eight days in standby mode or seven hours of continuous video playback.
The Redmi 5 Plus, on the other hand, features a 5.99-inch FHD+ (2160 x 1080p) touchscreen. Beating within its metallic body is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2GHz coupled with an Adreno 506 GPU, 4GB RAM, and 64GB onboard storage.
The Redmi 5 Plus hosts a 12-megapixel main camera equipped with a 1.25um pixel sensor and F2.2 aperture. Occupying above the display is a 5-megapixel front camera with LED Selfie-light and 1080p video recording capability at 30fps. In addition, the handset runs on Android Nougat OS with Xiaomi's very-own MIUI 9. Available in Black, Gold Rose, Gold, and Blue colors, the Redmi 5 Plus arrives with a 4000mAh battery.
In the Philippines, the Redmi 5A is now available for registration and will start selling on March 15, 2018 with a promotional launch price of PhP 4,390. It will be officially available through Lazada Mi store for PhP 4,590. Meanwhile, the Redmi 5 Plus will start selling on March 17, 2018 with a retail price of PhP 9,999 at Authorized Mi Store in the Philippines.
