Smart Launches The Nokia Lumia 710

Smart Launches The Nokia Lumia 710

On the evening of April 18, Globe Telecom launched the first Nokia Lumia smartphone in the country, the Nokia Lumia 800. True to the competitive nature of the local carrier industry, Globe's main rival, Smart Communications launched its own Windows Phone 7 smartphone the very next day, the Nokia Lumia 710.

The 710 is the smaller sibling of the 800, featuring a 3.7-inch Nokia ClearBlack display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Running the show is a snappy 1.4GHz Scorpion CPU from Qualcomm and 512MB of memory. Aside from running Windows Phone 7.5 "Mango", the Lumia 710's claim to fame (along with the rest of the Lumia family) is that it "smokes" the competition when it comes to the speed of uploading photos or updating your social network status messages. Nokia is so confident about this fact that they had endorsers challenge people with other smartphones, offering gift certificates to those who could beat the Lumia 710. As of the launch, they have not given out a single one, as the Lumia was able to post photos in under 20 seconds.

During the event, we spotted the top of the line Nokia Lumia smartphone, the 4.3-inch Lumia 900, which will be available in May along with the Lumia 610.

Smart is offering the Nokia Lumia 710 with its limited edition Data Plan 1000, (available only until May 8) at a monthly amortization of Php450 over the 24 month duration of the plan.
