Smart’s SmartNet App to Become Available on iOS 5, Other Platforms?

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - It seems like Smart Communications has a great vision for the SmartNet (NetPhone) application. We have already seen it running on Android, and now, a photo of it running on the iOS 5 platform, specifically on the iPhone 4S, has leaked on the cyberspace. We got an opportunity to attend Smart’s year-end party last week, and the folks at Smart told us that in the future, we might see the SmartNet application available on other platforms and devices such as BlackBerrys. SmartNet is considerably a concrete move of Smart to vie in another business opportunity like app development.

Putting the SmartNet application on Apple’s App Store has been in the works. By far, SmartNet is available on Android smartphones, such as the NetPhone 701 and the Samsung Galaxy Y S5360. Visiting the Smart’s website, the pre-order form for the Apple iPhone 4S is now up. Both Smart and its rival telco giant, Globe, are set to release the iPhone 4S on December 16, 2011 locally, just in time for the next payday. Apart from the promise of better plans and data connection, will SmartNet play as a key differentiator for Smart’s iPhone 4S campaign? We’ll find out once iPhone 4S sales figures from the two telcos become available.
