Korean CE giant Samsung Electronics has agreed to invest about US$111 million in Sharp. The purpose of this capital alliance is to ‘build up mutual trust relationship toward increase in the corporate value of Sharp and Samsung Electronics in the field of liquid crystal display business.

A Japanese press release has been made public announcing that Sharp is now manufacturing a series of 5-inch displays for Android smartphones. With most smartphone screens today maxing out at a resolution of 1280x720, Sharp shows off and offers 1920x1080 of screen resolution to its consumers.
