Carrier unveils Smart+Cool app and new air conditioners at AC/XP 2018
Cooling goes digital
Digital transformation is happening in almost all industries these days, and this phenomenon does not exclude the cooling and refrigeration industry. With that, Carrier, through its Philippine distributor Concepcion Industrial Corporation (CIC) and its subsidiary Concepcion-Carrier Air Conditioning Company (CCAC), is embarking on a digital transformation journey through a campaign called AC/XP (Air Conditioning Experience) 2018. Through this campaign, Carrier aims to transform the experience of its customers by not only providing them with new products, but also by bringing to them new innovations that will help them efficiently maximize the products.
Taking place at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater in Taguig, the event started off with an enriching glimpse of the industry in connection with the economic landscape of the country. Harold Thomas Pernikar, Consumer Solutions Group Director for CCAC, explained that the economic development brought about by the continuing growth in the sectors of BPO, manufacturing, and tourism, as well as the substantial contribution of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have resulted in the rapid urbanization in many areas in the Philippines.
Rapid urbanization means more residential and commercial establishments are being built, and these eventually would require adequate air conditioning. It is good news for companies like Carrier, but it also imposes new challenges such as more and new demands from consumers, particularly those who are digitally savvy who could quickly share negative feedback online. Speaking of feedback, Carrier also mentioned that Filipino consumers are still complaining about the high cost of electricity in the country.
Understanding this predicament, Carrier took the AC/XP 2018 event as an opportunity to not only unveil its new air conditioning models (namely the Klarwind Duo 2-in-1, V-Series, and the Triwind Series), but also demonstrate the Smart+Cool mobile application. By using a smartphone, the app allows Carrier air conditioner users to easily monitor AC power consumption, schedule AC operation, remotely turn on/turn off the AC, and get live chat support when needed. The result: reduced power consumption, efficient AC cooling, and prolonged unit lifespan. Smart+Cool is compatible with new Carrier AC models with the help of a bundled adapter.
Specific details on the availability and pricing of the new AC models with Smart-Cool feature were not revealed at the time of writing. Stay tuned for more updates!
