ASUS goes #BackTo5 with the newly-minted ZenFone 5 series
ASUS has ushered the new age of intelligent phones with the launch of the all-new ZenFone series at the 2018 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain.
ASUS's fifth generation of ZenFone handsets boasts a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, innovative full-screen designs, industry-leading Qualcomm processors, and flagship dual-camera systems – both rear and front.
Spearheaded by ASUS CEO Jerry Shen, the company introduced the newly-minted lineup which consists of the ZenFone 5Z and the ZenFone 5, exciting high-performance 6.2-inch dual-camera smartphones which are the first-ever ZenFone models to harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI). Moreover, these smartphones feature the brand’s first-ever 19:9 all-screen displays with astonishing 90% screen-to-body ratio in a remarkably compact size that’s indeed comparable to a standard 5.5-inch smartphone.
The ZenFone 5Z is a high-performance version of the ZenFone 5, powered by the latest flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform with Artificial Intelligence Engine (AIE), carrying 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM.
On the other hand, the ZenFone 5 is the first smartphone available worldwide to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform. It is a stylish 6-inch smartphone featuring the world’s first globally-announced true quad-camera system with fully independent high-resolution and wide-angle cameras in both front and rear.
“We embarked on the ZenFone project four years ago with the idea of creating empowering luxury for everyone to enjoy,” said Shen. “Today, the ZenFone 5 Series is the most intelligent ZenFone series ever, utilizing advanced AI algorithms and big data analytics to provide users with a unique slate of intelligent camera, communication, and convenience features.”
Shen was joined by Qualcomm President Cristiano Amon.

Powered by powerful Snapdragon Mobile Platform, the ZenFone 5Z (Snapdragon 845 with the AIE) and the ZenFone (Snapdragon 636) will support superior user experience that include dual cameras and artificial intelligence,” said Amon.
Following the press event, award-winning rock band OK Go, performed live at the party. The US-based rock band which also earned a Grammy honor for its music video, has partnered with ASUS to work on the ZenFone 5 marketing campaign.
