Globe Telecom has powered the Bulacan State University-Malolos campus as the giant telco rolls out its GoWiFi service to allow their students to experience a fast and reliable Internet connection and support their online needs.

“We can consider the Internet as an extended classroom for our students. With the number of resources available online, we want to make it accessible for students to access the Internet at high speeds to research, finish their assignments, and further educate themselves,” said  Globe Chief Commercial Officer Albert de Larrazabal.

Bulacan State University is one of the biggest universities in terms of the student population with 42,000 students – 35,000 of them are based in Malolos campus alone.

That said, Globe’s launch of its premium public wireless Internet service has allowed BSU-Malolos and other academic institutions to support their students' online requirements with a fast and reliable Internet connection.

Globe also rolled out its education-related Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) on the BSU-Malolos campus, aiming to educate students regarding digital citizenship and responsible usage of the Internet. Through the DTP, Globe, together with partners Optus, Singtel, and program co-designer Karrikins Group, students will be more aware on common issues like cyberbullying and identity theft.

To date, DTP has taught 15,821 public and private high school students, and 1,627 public high school teachers.

With GoWiFi and the Digital Thumbprint Program, Globe Telecom has made more students equipped with high-speed internet to complement their education needs and uphold values that respect the dignity of each person online.
