Canon Marketing Philippines announces Lim Kok Hin as new President and CEO
Canon Marketing Philippines Inc. (CMPI) welcomes Lim Kok Hin as the company’s new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Lim is replacing Alan Chng who now assumes the position of President and CEO of Canon Marketing Thailand. Lim officially took over last July 1, 2014.
A degree-holder in Economics from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom, Lim has been with Canon for more than twenty years. From 1991 to 2006, he held various management positions in Canon Malaysia and eventually promoted as a Senior Director of Business Imaging Solutions (BIS) at Canon Singapore Pte Ltd (CSPL). Lim became the Vice President of the BIS group for the Southeast Asian region in 2011. With this position, he handled the Sales and Marketing of Canon’s business imaging hardware and software solutions across 18 countries, including subsidiaries in India, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Lim also headed CSPL’s Domestic Business Operations, overseeing the growth, sales, marketing, and services of the Consumer Imaging and Information Products and BIS groups for the Singapore market.
On Tuesday, August 12, we got an opportunity to interview Lim Kok Hin. When we asked if the popularity of imaging-capable smartphones and tablets among consumers is affecting Canon’s camera and camcorder business, Lim said:
“This is not necessary negative. This could even be positive. The more you take pictures with a smartphone or a tablet, the more you learn about picture taking and you realize the importance of using the right technology and the right lighting so you could get a good photo. Most of the time, you realize the limitations of using a smartphone or a tablet in photography. In the long run, people will understand photography as a proper hobby and they will need to get a good camera.”
