The first in the country, GCash will release its new feature that enables QR payments via smartphone soon.

With GoPay, consumers won't have to worry about bringing money or getting their change after waiting for minutes. Meanwhile, merchants won't have to provide customers costly machines that will handle their payments' transactions. Instead, only a unique QR code, linked to their GCash wallet, is needed.

"With GoPay QR, consumers don't even need to bring cash when they go shopping or when they eat out. It is the best option for people who do not want to use credit cards but are either wary of having cash with them due to safety reasons or just want the convenience that mobile money offers," JM Aujero, Mynt Merchant Acquiring Head, supported.

The feature which can be found in the GCash app can be used by customers when paying goods and services by just scanning QR codes put up by merchants and establishments.

GoPay is available to customers with an iPhone or an Android smartphone. Users just need to download or update the latest version of the GCash App, register the existing account and deposit money to his GCash wallet at any of the more than 12,000 GCash Partner Outlets in the country.

After this procedures, the customer has to open the GCash App and swipe the page to the left. The GCash App will then open the phone's camera, which the customer has to direct to the QR code of the merchant, then enter the amount needed.

"Our goal has always been to make finance more inclusive by building  a cashless ecosystem," John Rubio, CEO and President of Mynt, a subsidiary of Globe Telecom for GCash, said.

Rubio also stated the plan to reach all types of retailers throughout the country, even to our classic fishball vendor.
