HP has launched a campaign that aims for stopping the proliferation of the counterfeit and substandard ink cartridges which may stall printing jobs, damage the printers, and possibly incur further additional costs in repairing the device.

HP Philippines’ “Stop the Fakes” features four simple and reliable steps in helping their consumers protect themselves from potentially using the fake inks and toners by knowing what does an original HP product comprised of. The procedure includes:

  • Mobile authentication. This is made through scanning the QR code with your smartphone.

  • Tamper Evident Label with enhanced security feature. Look for these three signs that your HP cartridge may have been tampered with:
    • The lines in the pattern do not match
    • The label is colored rather than transparent
    • The text changes on the label to show ‘seal is void’

  • Security Seal that comes with an anti-counterfeit (ACF) number for validation. This can be seen by tilting the box of an original HP supply from front to back to show “OK” and “√” moving in opposite direction. Tilting the box from left to right will also show “OK” and “√” moving in the same direction.

  • Online validation. This can be done by accessing HP’s website hp.com/go/ok and entering the ACF number from the security label.

By knowing this procedure, consumers can stop the fakes, be spared from its troubles and, be sure to use only genuine and high-quality HP products on their printers.
