It turns out that the alleged 10-inch tablet was just another rumor. Instead, HTC unveiled yet another Android smartphone, the Desire X. Here's a quick look at its specs:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core 1GHz processor
  • 768MB RAM
  • 4-inch Super LCD display / 800 x 480 pixels
  • Android 4.0
  • Sense 4
  • 5-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0, 28mm wide angle lens, BSI sensor
  • 4GB internal storage capacity
  • microSD card slot
  • Dropbox integration (25GB free storage)
  • Beats Audio integration
  • 1650mAh battery
  • 118.5 x 62.3 x 9.3mm
  • 120g

Its immediate competitor should be the entry-level Sony Xperia J, which is one of the three new Xperia smartphones announced by the Japanese company at IFA 2012. The HTC Desire X will be available in selected markets across EMEA and Asia Pacific from September 2012.
