Know more about this Japanese brand in the “What is MUJI?” exhibit
In the Philippines, MUJI first opened in Manila in October 2010. MUJI or Mujirishi Ryohin in Japanese translates as “no brand, quality goods” is a brand that has focused on creating quality products that are essential for one’s life without the unnecessary complexity. This September, MUJI launched its “What is MUJI?” exhibit ‒ an honest display of the brand’s mission and philosophy.
The Material Selection, Streamlining Process, and Packaging Simplification are the three core principles of MUJI that remain unchanged on this day. The essence of MUJI products lies in its simplicity, flexibility, and modesty to fit different lifestyles and individual preferences. MUJI’s vision of creating simple and pleasant lifestyles was built from the beginning to deliver goods and services with both the manufacturer and consumer in mind. Today, MUJI continues to orient itself to the basis and universality of daily life.
Material Selection
For Japanese brand MUJI, in creating their products, choosing the best materials to create them is of utmost importance. MUJI travels around the world to source out the most suitable raw materials with quality as its deciding criteria.
Streamlining Process
Unnecessary processes that have no bearing on a product’s quality such as sorting, sizing, and polishing, are eliminated. MUJI makes it sure that each product is subject to careful scrutiny.
Packaging Simplification
The brand highlights the product’s natural color and shape instead of embellishing it in MUJI’s packaging. All MUJI products are placed in plain, uniform containers that bear only product information and the retail price.
Today, there are MUJI stores located in 28 countries/regions including Japan. It has been more than a quarter century since 1991 when MUJI started its global expansion from London and Hong Kong. MUJI branches in the Philippines are located at C1 Bonifacio High Street, Greenbelt 3, Power Plant Mall at Rockwell, and Shangri-La Plaza East Wing
The “What is MUJI?” exhibition introduces the brand’s products and concept to Filipino customers to eliminate language barriers between Japan and the Philippines. The exhibition will last the whole month at MUJI Power Plant Mall (mall hours) and on October 6-31, 2017 at MUJI Bonifacio High Street at C1 (mall hours).
