PH becomes first country in Asia to stream Roku with new PLDT TVolution Box

In a bid to bring popular titles right on TV screens at our own homes, PLDT has unveiled its newest entertainment solution called the TVolution Box.

Powered by America’s most popular streaming player Roku, the TVolution Box comes with on demand titles from iflix, Netflix, Cignal, and YouTube which users can easily access through integrated buttons on the TVolution Box’s remote.

PLDT and Roku first announced their partnership September last year during the former’s launch of Smart Home. This collaboration makes the Philippines the first country in Asia to stream Roku services, alongside Canada, Australia, Europe, and Mexico.

“We will change the way Filipino families enjoy entertainment at home with the Roku-powered TVolution. This is the first time that Roku is actually coming to Asia,” shared PLDT FVP and Home Business Head Oscar A. Reyes.

“Now, families can watch their favorite TV shows and stream videos from the Internet on their TV without switching to multiple devices through the Roku-powered TVolution. This partnership with Roku further enriches PLDT’s smart home ecosystem that aims to enhance the lives of Filipino families. By partnering with the world’s biggest content digital providers, PLDT Home revolutionizes home entertainment and brings a new age of TV in the Philippines. We at PLDT Home want to bring back the power of TV to bring Filipino families together again,” he added.

“Working with PLDT for the Roku-powered TVolution Box, consumers in the Philippines will have the first chance to enjoy the simplicity and the richness of a Roku streaming platform,” said Brandon Amber, Strategy and Corporate Development Executive in the Telecom, Media & Technology sector of Roku Inc.

The launch of the TVolution Box is in line with PLDT’s goal of transforming more cities in the Philippines into a Smart City through its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) expansion program which is already implemented in Toledo City in Cebu, General Santos in Mindanao, Naga City in Bicol, and southern communities in Metro Manila. By the end of the year, the telco giant eyes to deploy its FTTH program to 4.4 million homes.

The Roku-powered TVolution Box is available to PLDT Home Fibr customers for an additional monthly service fee of PhP 199. For more information, visit pldthome.com.
