PLDT deploys PayMaya cashless payment service in The Store branches nationwide
PLDT Enterprise, a subsidiary of PLDT, Inc., has enabled The SM Store to elevate its customer service delivery by furnishing all 59 nationwide branches with PayMaya’s cashless payment solution. The movement was made possible through its corporate business group PLDT Alpha and Voyager Innovations Inc.
At the height of digitalization playing the role of disruptor at the retail landscape, SM Store President Chelo Monasterio has said they take pride in their ability to adapt to technology to keep their business at the forefront, with PLDT ALPHA being their most trusted provider.
"We have had a long partnership with PayMaya and PLDT. So this recent collaboration is but a progression of that partnership. We look forward to areas we can [further] collaborate with for Filipinos worldwide,” said Monasterio.
The cashless payment scheme, which was made available last December 2017, works in partial fulfillment of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) mandate to accelerate financial technology and electronic transactions by 20% in 2020. PLDT Inc. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Manuel V. Pangilinan shared his enthusiasm for the initiative.

Further, the deployment of the solution is part of the comprehensive strategy designed by PLDT ALPHA in ensuring the successful and seamless digital transformation of The SM Store, its longtime partner.
