Philippine National Police signed a memorandum of agreement with Globe Telecom, PLDT and Smart to operate Text 2286 (Bato) for crime prevention in the country.

Text Bato is a SMS hotline that provides an access for the public to directly report incidents to PNP Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.

Aside from providing an alignment of the integrator and vendor of the SMS platform, Globe will also extend support in disseminating information on the Text Bato hotline to promote public awareness.

Meanwhile, Smart has assigned a wireless device for Dela Rosa to personally access all incoming messages and even have the option to directly reply to every message sender.

According to PNP, the “Bato” hotline is centralized and connected to the provincial and regional police officers. The PNP is able to refer the complaint to the concerned police station upon receiving the text, so once the PNP receives a report, it would be transferred to the concerned police station.
