Prestone launches scholarship program in celebration of 90th anniversary

One of the Prestone's key executives, Clorox International Philippines, Inc. President Marties Dagdag, were also present on stage to introduce the brand's latest advocacy program called ANAK NG MEKANIKO scholarship program.

In celebration of its 90th year anniversary, known automobile service repair products brand Prestone launched a program aiming to commemorate the efforts of the unsung heroes of the automotive industry called Anak ng Mekaniko Scholarship Program.

Prestone’s scholarship program aims to support the automotive repair and maintenance service sector in the Philippines by providing free college education to select deserving children of local auto mechanics. The brand also announced their partnership with STI College for the program.

“Prestone values the contribution made by auto mechanics to the brand’s success. After nearly a century of milestones, we hope that this program will add to Prestone’s many firsts,” said Paulo Lao, Prestone Sales and Marketing Director. “All of these will not be possible without the support of the loyal Prestone users, especially the local auto mechanics who journeyed us in our feat to ensuring and maintaining safety and security for drivers and their vehicles.”

The program will select nine scholars from an entire pool of students of either high school graduates, graduating senior high school students, passers of Alternative Learning System (ALS), or Philippine Education Placement Test, and even individuals who want to finish their college education. These nine will be chosen across the country (Metro Manila, North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao) through a series of a thorough selection process, and the entire number represents the decades of Prestone’s existence in the country.

And upon the final announcement by April 2018, the nine Prestone's Anak ng Mekaniko scholars will be granted a full scholarship to a four-year course of their choice in any STI branch, nationwide. Aside from the tuition fees, the grant also includes stipends, as well as books and uniform allowances.

“Filipinos consider education as a symbol of wealth that they can bequeath to their children. As such, we want to inspire and give hope to nine deserving Anak ng Mekaniko scholars, who will be chosen from across the country,” said Monique Gonzales, Prestone Brand Manager.

Since 1927, Prestone has been a leading innovator of cutting-edge coolants, brake fluid, and motor oils, and improving them for the safety and protection of the Filipino motorists. But also, Prestone also believes in giving back and advocating to improve the lives of the children of mechanics through education.
